Starting Monday, July 29th, at 6:00 AM Eastern Standard Time, your characters will awaken, tucked into beds in a spacious city apartment -- the kind that could only exist for a TV show. The lock screen on their communicator will read, Obey the host. Time limit, one-hundred and forty-four hours.

Once everyone is awake, a tall, stylish supermodel will arrive, and introduce herself as, "Your host, Brenna Niven."

It's the first second of the month and that's when games do activity checks! Lucky for you, in this particular game, we're not fussy. Here's all you have to do:

...I mean, seven days pass, and then you get a cookie, and we take off characters/players who have not responded.

If you are on a declared hiatus, we will respond for you, and you will be safe. Since apping is as easy as a comment, we're not too worried about cutting people who still want to play. All you have to do is make a comment saying "Whoops" or reclaim your characters, and you can continue playing as if nothing happened.

If you have not posted yet or haven't tagged in a while, you are still encouraged to respond!! Take this as an opportunity to get active, not as a guilt trip! We would love to see everyone on the claimed list make a comeback and get involved. We're only in the first setting, and it's never too late to get started.

Sorry for the late post, this would normally be up at least on Saturday, and possibly on Friday, before a new setting.

Our first setting is going to be the example I've used to describe the game to everyone: A deserted tropical island. When your character wakes up, the lock screen on their communicator will read, Create a settlement on the beach and secure necessities for habitation. Time limit, one-hundred and forty-four hours.

If characters attempt to swim [or who can fly] away from the island, they will "fall asleep" when they lose sight of the island, and will wake up back on the island. You can begin posting any time Monday morning, there's no need to wait for a mod announcement.

Character claims open

As of the game's opening, we won't be doing applications. Instead, we plan to allow players to simply claim characters via comment. Since we are not advertising and are planning to keep things relaxed, it felt like applying would be unnecessary, since most players would be friends or friends of friends! (And of course, if filling out apps makes you happy or comfortable with your character, we can give you a template and you can still write something up. Whatever makes you happy!)

Character claims will not be required until June 17th; the June 10th event is open to everyone.

Opening setting IC meme

On June 10th, we will post a mingle log on the IC community. The first setting will be a modern office building, with the usual accommodations: characters will start out in a waiting room, with many quasi-comfortable chairs, s few low tables, some magazines, and a single empty desk with a "Ring bell for assistance" sign. No one comes if you ring the bell. There is a restroom and a staff lounge with a refrigerator and more tables; other rooms contain phones and computers and fax machines, the usual office getup, but you will be unable to use them to contact anyone not currently present.

Each character will find themselves with a clipboard, a pen, and a small booklet of papers. Your character's communicator reads: Complete the job application. Time limit, twenty-four hours.

The job application is fairly standard material. What's your name, what's your address, what's your school history (town, dates, awards), what's your job history (town, supervisor, dates, responsibilities), have you ever been convicted of a felony, etc.

Claiming characters is not required for the meme. This means that if you don't plan to play Character X, or are debating between Characters A and B but don't want to play both, you can throw them all down anyway and just have fun! Just write out what the character is doing, wait for other people to tag you, and tag other people. This event is partially designed to allow people who are undecided about what characters they want to play to go for it. You can also play AU characters or characters with previous game history here.

Does your character fill out the application? Is it easy or hard? Do they lie? Do they even understand the questions? Maybe they ignore the application and ransack the refrigerator instead, or tinker with the communicator and discover how to make a [video] post? What do they do when it's nighttime and they have to find some way to sleep comfortably using only office chairs and bare desks? Have fun!

First full setting

The game officially begins on June 17th. Information about the setting will be posted on June 15th. Only characters who were claimed can be played from this point forward, but players will be officially allowed into the community and permitted to make their own posts.

If you played your claimed character in the IC meme, it is up to you whether that character remembers or not. If you made some really good or fun CR, you are welcome to keep it. If tone is important to you and you don't want your character to miss on the opening drama of "Where am I? What am I doing here?" because they participated in a silly IC meme, you are welcome to "reset" them at this time.
